About

My Mum's story begins with her breast cancer diagnosis back in 2021. She had surgery and intensive chemo which she coped so well with and fought like a trooper. Fast forward to winter 2023 and she got a diagnosis of Cancer within the lining of her lung. She fought hard with regular lung drainings, chemotherapy, immunotherapy and many more treatments however sadly in January 2025 we had found it has metastasised into the peritoneum. This is an incredible fast moving and aggressive cancer. Given a very short prognosis mum fought all year, going through incredibly intensive chemotherapy. Treatment stopped in the summer. In October we saw a rapid decline, and the Heart of Kent team and community nurses were instrumental in Mum's care. Then in December Mum finally accepted a place at the hospice where she stayed for 4 days before she sadly died. The care she recieved in that time was incredible. They are kind and did everything in their power to make her as a calm, comfortable and happy. On top of that there was a huge level of support for me and my family during that time but also afterwards. We are hugely grateful for everything the Hospice did for Mum and would love to raise a generous amount for them.
